Wildlife
Biological consulting services are required when a proposed action (e.g., power, water, gas, mining project, etc.) occurs on federal lands that may impact sensitive biological resources. Sensitive biological resources include flora and fauna covered by federal and state laws and local management plans.
The biological resources are classified as threatened or endangered. Candidate plants, animals, and migratory birds are listed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM) species of concern, and U.S. Forest Service (USFS) sensitive species. Other species of concern include plants and animals protected under the State of Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) and those protected in Clark County by the Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan (MSHCP).
Consultation on these species requires research, documentation, data analysis and recommendation of required mitigation measures to protect these resources during proposed project activities in accordance with laws and management plans.
