Helping Preserve Nevada’s Resources

At Knight & Leavitt Associates we pride ourselves in helping preserve Nevada’s irreplaceable natural and cultural resources.  Our company has been providing services to Nevada since the late 1980s.  Part of our on-going projects include monitoring cultural resources near Red Rock Canyon and providing desert tortoise pick-up services.

The cultural resources of southern Nevada are representative of Native American history in the Great Basin and the Southwest, along with early Euro-American settlers.  Nevada is home to a diverse archaeological history and protecting these resources is part of maintaining Nevada’s vibrant past.  Unfortunately archaeological sites that can be easily accessed by the public are often vandalized or looted. As part of our on-going partnership with the Howard Hughes Corporation, Knight & Leavitt Associates is helping protect archaeological resources near the Red Rock Canyon area.  These sites unfortunately have already seen significant vandalism and it is our goal to help prevent further damage.

Southern Nevada is also the home of the desert tortoise which was listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act in 1980.  Knight & Leavitt Associates has worked with Clark County to track desert tortoise populations in conservation areas as well as offer pick-up services for construction companies and developers in the event that a tortoise wanders into a work site.  Our company has partnered with Clark County to offer these pick-up services free of charge as part of the county’s effort to preserve the desert tortoise population.  As part of our contract with the county we also offer educational outreach about the desert tortoise including how developers and construction crews can help protect Nevada’s desert dweller.
